This Weekend Ep. 2 — Jan. 11, 2024

Historic Theatre, Standup Comedy, …and the Matterhorn?

It’s time for episode 2, Season 2 of “This Weekend, with Nick Pagliochini,” and this week I had a great time sitting down and talking with Liz Schindler Johnson about the Grand Vision Foundation and it’s Grand Annex Music Hall in San Pedro, California, where last week’s guests, Dawn Zarnick and Brandy Johnston will be presenting Untold “Mostly True Stories” The Show on Friday, 19 January and Saturday, 20 Jaunary 2024!

After talking to Liz, it’s into the meat and potatoes of @ThisWeekendWithNick! The Eagles and their four-night residency in Inglewood at the KIA Forum; Paw Patrol LIVE! “Heroes Unite” at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside;  A “four in one” or at least four events for the price of one admission at the Fairplex in Pomona - Asian American Expo, Sneaker Expo, K-Play! Fest, and ANIME Impulse; The Oddities & Curiosities Expo this weekend (13 Jan & 14 Jan) in Del Mar at the San Diego County Fairgrounds and next weekend (20 Jan & 21 Jan) in Downtown LA at the La Convention Center; and attending a comedy show at any number of venues in and around Southern California, but specifically the Renegade Comedy Show TOMORROW (Friday, 12 Jan 2024) at the Ice House in Pasadena that will be featuring KFI AM 640’s own news anchor extraordinaire – Heather Brooker – who happens to be my second guest for this episode!

Heather and I talk about her time with KTLA and NBC, being a mom, hosting Wake Up Call and anchoring the news on KFI AM 640, and how an open mic night lead to her love of comedy! Take a listen!

Time for Last Call and Free 99 – First off, it’s about an event that I am headed to TONIGHT (Thursday, 11 Jan 2024) – the Jim Irsay Collection – yes, that Jim Irsay – the Owner & CEO of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts is bringing his traveling museum of iconic artifacts from rock music, American history and pop culture to Downtown LA along with some incredible musicians to perform a one night only concert that’s #Free99 to attend, but will also support Kicking the Stigma – an initiative to raise awareness about mental health, through donations.

Then it’s off to Montclair, California to experience a mile high immersive experience with The Set’s Matterhorn Lodge – a speakeasy you must see to believe! It’s through a freezer at That 80s Bar that you will be transported to another land! Admission is #Free99, but you have to make reservations to attend! Smorgasburg LA makes it’s return after a three-week holiday, after the holidays! #Free99 to get in, delicious drinks and tasty treats abound! And it’s another #Free99 #FreeMuseumSunday!
